From a young age Jill has always been interested in art and design. As a teenager she had an interest in portraiture, creating portraits from life and photographs for friends and family.
Jill studied Art and Design to gain qualifications to work in the Graphic design industry. At the end of the course she decided to move in a different direction specializing in interior design. Later Jill gained a BA (HONS) Interior design degree at Napier University Edinburgh. While at University Jill was employed by paint manufacturer Craig and Rose based in Edinburgh, where she was trained in painting and decorating techniques and Gilding.
As a hobby Jill attended Stained-glass classes in Edinburgh and later set up her own workshop hand painting glass panels creating colourful stained glass hangings.
Jill has worked for Architects, Designers, Antique dealer and Interior design companies before setting up her own interior design business in East Lothian. She uses all the skills and knowledge gained over the years working in the design field.
After many years concentrating on her interior design business, Jill went back to her first love drawing and painting.n 2017. Jill's paintings went on exhibit at a local art exhibition. One of the paintings on exhibit was called Poppy, a painting about her daughter moving towards a bright future.
Recently during lockdown she has been paining portraits for Tom Croft Portraits for NHS Heroes.
Jill now takes commissions for her art work while still running her Interior design business. She has introduced her art work in to her soft furnishings creating her own unique brand. Now, she’s designing a new range.
